This is a vintage Gibson archtop guitar. I think it's a model L-50 and I believe it's from the 1940's. It has a bound solid spruce top with maple back and sides and a rosewood fingerboard. The back is also bound and has some nice flame. The neck is one piece mahogany. Body measures 16" across the lower bout,11 1/2" across the upper bout and is 3 1/4" deep. Guitar has been non-professionally refinished. Someone has converted it to an 8 string (mandocello?). It has had pickups installed and one has been removed (see photos). It's also had a volume and tone control installed and a mini switch (pickup and electronics are working). There is a input jack on the side. The tailpiece is not original and the tuneomatic bridge is a vintage Japanese model. The tuners have obviously been changed and the truss rod cover is also not original. It has a pearl inlay script Gibson headstock logo but I don't know if it's original. This is a Gibson guitar and it has an ink stamped Factory Order Number of 1233F (see photo) visible through the F hole. Guitar is in very good condition with no cracks or breaks. The top and back are nicely arched. The neck joint is solid. Neck is very straight with good action and moderate fret wear with plenty of life. It's probably been re-fretted but it's a good job. Having said all that, this is a good solid vintage Gibson with a nice neck and solid spruce top. It has a lot of potential for restoration or a custom player. I'm selling it "as is" with No Reserve and a very low starting price. No case but will be very carefully packed for shipping. Nice vintage Gibson archtop guitar project! No Reserve!!
